DP World names Jason Varsamidis Asia Pacific CEO - asia-pacific ceo
Varsamidis joins with nearly three decades of experience in the sector, including 19 years at P&O Ports before joining DP World in 1997.

DP World has named Jason Varsamidis as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for its Asia-Pacific region, effective immediately. The appointment was announced in a company statement on October 15, 2026, marking a shift in leadership for a division overseeing ports, terminals, and logistics operations across 22 countries and employing over 12,000 people.

Varsamidis joins with nearly three decades of experience in the sector, including 19 years at P&O Ports before joining DP World in 1997. Since 2020, he has served as Chief Financial Officer for DP World Asia-Pacific, where he guided the region’s financial strategy, investment decisions, and operational performance. Earlier, he led similar roles in Australia, overseeing mergers, acquisitions, and infrastructure projects.

In his new position, Varsamidis will focus on strengthening regional supply chains, expanding integrated logistics, and maintaining operational efficiency. His background in finance and infrastructure aligns with DP World’s recent growth strategy in the region, which includes acquisitions and terminal developments in Australia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam. The division also manages logistics hubs and free trade zones.

His appointment provides continuity for the business and keeps us firmly focused on our strategic priorities, our customers and our people.” The move ensures continuity in strategy while prioritizing customer relationships and workforce development.

Varsamidis emphasized collaboration with leadership teams to sustain momentum. “We have a strong business, talented people and real opportunities across this region. I’ll work closely with our leadership team and colleagues to maintain momentum, deliver for our customers and partners, and keep advancing our strategic priorities.” His focus will include maintaining operational excellence and advancing DP World’s broader strategic goals.

This appointment follows DP World’s global expansion in 2026, including a $1.5 billion acquisition of a 37.5% stake in its Jeddah terminal, a $90 million expansion in Luanda, and a 15-year concession at Chittagong’s New Mooring Container Terminal in Bangladesh. The company’s first-half revenue for 2026 reached $12.7 billion, a 13.1% increase year-over-year, with container volumes, excluding Jebel Ali, rising 6.5% on a like-for-like basis.
