Chipotle is offering a double protein promotion for one day only, on August 27, as a farewell to its Chipotle Honey Chicken, which will end its limited-time run that week. The promotion is for customers who order one full-priced bowl, burrito, or salad entrée and use the code “PROTEIN” at checkout on the chain’s app or website in the U.S. and Canada, while supplies last.
Double protein for a burrito costs $4.05 in the Louisville, Kentucky, market. This move is likely to attract more customers, given the popularity of the Chipotle Honey Chicken.
Chipotle Honey Chicken’s Success
Chipotle Honey Chicken returned to the menu on April 28 after making its debut in 2025 and quickly becoming the fast-casual Mexican chain’s best-performing limited-time offer ever. According to a report from Numerator, 53% of Chipotle Honey Chicken buyers said the item influenced their decision to visit the chain.

Nearly 50% of those consumers had not been to Chipotle in the prior 12 weeks. This suggests that the Chipotle Honey Chicken has been successful in attracting new customers to the chain.
Protein-Forward Menu
The Chipotle Honey Chicken has been available as an option for the chain’s High Protein Cup, launched in December as part of a broader protein-forward menu. The menu was launched as consumers increasingly seek high-protein options; according to the International Food Information Council, 70% of Americans are prioritizing protein, with more than one-third increasing their intake over the past year.
This trend is likely driven by growing health awareness and the desire for nutritious food options. As a result, restaurants like Chipotle are adapting their menus to meet this demand.
The free double protein offer comes amid a flurry of promotions from the chain as of late, most of which are buy-one-get-one free deals. The chain is currently running a BOGO every time U.S. Men’s Tennis Player Taylor Fritz wins a match at the U.S. Open, for instance.

Recent Promotions
Chipotle’s back-to-school BOGO earlier this month set a single-day gross sales record. The previous record was its Matchday BOGO in June to coincide with the FIFA Men’s World Cup. Prior to that, Chipotle’s Tatted like a Chipotle Bag BOGO promotion in March set its highest sales day record.
These promotions demonstrate Chipotle’s efforts to engage with customers and drive sales. By offering limited-time deals and discounts, the chain aims to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
“Fans have made their love for Chipotle Honey Chicken clear, so we couldn’t send it back to the vault without one last celebration,” Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing Stephanie Perdue said in a statement. This statement highlights the chain’s appreciation for customer feedback and its commitment to providing popular menu items.
